Refrigeration Installation Company Manchester

Refrigeration Installation Panel
Control panel for refrigeration system installation in Manchester

We are a refrigeration installation company in Manchester who offers the highest level of technical ability and customer service. Over the years, we have built our reputation for providing a service that is second to none. We have customers around the North West including Bolton, Bury, Irlam, Sale Stockport and Ashton-under-Lyne.

State of the Art Equipment

Our equipment includes:

Vacuum Pumps

High capacity 10 cfm vacuum pumps to de-hydrate the refrigerant system- fast!

Brazing Equipment

Oxy-acetylene blow torch equipment used for the silver soldering and brazing of refrigerant pipework.

Torque Wrench

Our calibrated torque wrench is used to tighten reciprocating compressor bolts to the correct torque setting before pressure testing.

Electrical Components

On the shelf, we have contactors, circuit breakers, residual current detectors, 240v and 24v solenoid valves and coils, a range of fuse types and many more components.

Refrigerant

We keep in stock a supply of all commonly used low and medium temperature refrigerants to get your system up and running.

Compressors

We have the capability to strip CO2 reciprocating compressors in our workshop and replace scroll compressors.

Expansion Valves

We have the full range of Danfoss thermostatic and electronic expansion valves on the shelf. If the expansion valve is different in design to our extensive range, we can retrofit the part to your existing refrigeration system.

Pump Out Units

We have HFC refrigerant pump out units and also a state of the art ammonia refrigerant pump out unit which we designed in house using a NASA developed shaft sealing system.

Pressure Testing Equipment

Our pressure testing equipment includes a ยผ turn valve for the fast shut down of our nitrogen regulators. This is to quickly isolate the regulator in the event that the regulator jams open, preventing the refrigerant system filling to the same pressure as the nitrogen cylinder, then causing a dangerous pressure release. Our nitrogen hoses are made of steel braided PTFE for extra strength.

Test Equipment

We use calibrated Fluke multi-meters for testing Volts AC and DC and Ohms resistance. Our ammeters and insulation testers are also calibrated at regular intervals.

Decade

This piece of equipment is particularly useful to be adjusted to the same resistance of the normal Ohms of a failed sensor. This means we can replicate the sensor to keep you up and running in the event that a sensor is not available.

Case Study

We have a lot of customers in The Curry Mile in Rusholme, Manchester. This is because these customers need a good supply of food products for the high demand in this area.

Site Survey

Our lead engineer attended site at a local curry house to assess the job. The existing plant had a weathered condenser which had very poor heat exchange due to fin damage. The evaporator was in poor condition too. He advised the customer that he could reduce energy costs by installing a new refrigeration system and pipework. The electrical isolators would be replaced too.

Order to Carry Out Work

The owner of the restaurant thought the price was competitive and agreed to pay for the equipment Pro Forma. This is a good way to do the job as the customer pays a bit at a time as the job progresses.

Installation Project

We have a two man team available in Manchester with the above mentioned tools and equipment carried in the company vehicle as standard. The condenser, evaporator and interconnecting pipework had been delivered to the restaurant the day before so the job would progress quickly.

Condenser

The Unistrut for the old condenser was found to be in good condition, so this was re-used. Our team set up a ladder either side of the Unistrut cantilever arms and then lifted the new condenser into place. It was secured with bolts and washers from our stock carried in the company vehicle.

Flared Connections

We use a special lubricating oil to make the flare connections so that they are less prone to damage during their formation. The correct torque setting was achieved and the interconnecting pipework was secured into place along the wall.

Evaporator

The same technique was used with a ladder either side of the evaporator to lift it into place. It was hung on the existing threaded rod which had been attached to Unistrut on the ceiling. The Unistrut had been secured into place with Rawl bolts.

Expansion Valve & Flares

The Danfoss expansion valve was silver soldered into place with the correct size orifice fitted. Then, the flared connections were made onto the evaporator.

Pressure Test

To ensure the integrity of the system, a nitrogen pressure test was carried out according to industry guidelines.

Dehydration Process

The moisture and the air in the pipework was removed from the system with the above mentioned vacuum pump.

Commissioning

The refrigerant charge was already in the condenser, so the valves were opened to let the refrigerant go around the system, then a run test was carried out. We always do an extensive list of tests to ensure that the refrigeration system goes into seamless operation. Our engineers monitored the superheat and subcooling readings as the cold room got down to its -22ยฐC set point. Our lead engineer adjusted the deadband to 3ยฐC so as to stop the plant from short cycling and causing unnecessary compressor wear and tear.

Demonstration

On completion of works, the system controls were explained to the customer so he could make adjustments to the setpoint as he required.
